NEW PIECES - HORSE, SHEEP, etc. 4th February 2011Belated Happy New Year to everyone!I've added photos of a couple of new pieces in the 'Coming Soon' section of the gallery. These are of a small wax study of an absolutely beautiful Shire Mare, that I saw at the Westmorland Show last September. She won best in show, and I have since found out that she has also been the Shire Horse Society's "Shire of the Year" at least twice. I also saw a magnificent Herdwick Ram at the same show. Herdwicks are a particular favourite of mine; big, tough hill sheep, and Mr George Harryman's ram is a particularly impressive example of the breed, having won numerous breed and interbreed titles. I simply had to sculpt him! The photos show the original clay sculpture. Both pieces should be available in bronze by June. I will also be producing a small version of the White Park Bull, Ash Nik-Nak, in hallmarked sterling silver - available in June or July Finally, as I write this, I am just about to start on my next subject - a Red Deer Stag. Can't wait!! NEW PIECES 18th November 2010The first cast of my latest piece, a bas relief head study of a young Middle White Sow, is now available. There is a photo in the gallery. October Update - New Work/ Photos 11th October 2010There are a few new photos in the gallery. In the "Domestic" section there are photos of my Traditional Hereford Bull, Street Talbot, with a new alternate patina, which I think suits him beautifully. I've also added a new section called "Coming Soon" where I intend to show photos of completed work, prior to it being cast into bronze - A sneak preview for anyone interested. I've kicked off with photos of my latest piece, a Middle White sow called Lewin Dorothy III [or Alice for short]. She was the interbreed champion pig at the last ever Royal Show in 2009 and an absolutely delightful subject - a stunning example of her breed and a real character! I hope my sculpture has done her justice. Well, back to work on the pieces for my next exhibition! NEW WREN - Wren III 18th April 2010Since Wren II only has one cast left in the edition; by popular demand, I have sculpted a new Wren to replace it - 'Wren III'.Wrens are a subject I never tire of, but I think I will not revisit them again for a while now. I'm very pleased with how Wren III turned out, and because I chose a small elegant base for my design I have been able to keep the price below £3000.00 There are photographs of the finished bronze in the 'Birds' section of the gallery, for anyone interested. CHAMPION ANIMALS EXHIBITION EXTENDED INTO MAY! 18th April 2010First of all, I would like to extend a heart-felt, "Thank you!" to everyone who attended the opening night, or has since come in to view the exhibition. There was a fantastic atmosphere at the opening, with a real 'Buzz'. I'm generally rather shy and don't like crowds, but I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The response to the work has been very positive; so positive in fact, that Sladmore Contemporary are extending the exhibition until the end of May!Though the exhibition is no longer listed as current on their website [because some purchasers wish to pick up their bronzes before the end of May] all pieces will be on show most of the time. If you plan to visit to view a particular piece, just give them a call on: + 44 (0) 207 499 0365 to confirm that it is currently on show. Thank you again to all who have made this my most successful show to date! CHAMPION ANIMALS at SLADMORE [Opens March 25th] 6th March 2010"NEW SCULPTURES OF BRITISH CHAMPION ANIMALS" opens at the Sladmore Contemporary Gallery, 32 Bruton Place, off Berkeley Sq. London W1The private view will be on Wednesday March 24th; the exhibition will run from March 25th until April 16th - call Sladmore Contemporary on: 020 7499 0365 for further details, or to order a catalogue. There are photographs of all the pieces in the exhibition on my Gallery pages under, "Champion Animals". The works depict champion examples of many of our domestic breeds, Cattle, Horses, Pigs Sheep and Dogs and are inspired by an exhibition of the same name, sculpted over 80 years ago by Herbert Haseltine. Our domestic animals have changed so much during the intervening years; many that were common during Haseltine's time are now rare breeds, others have thrived - changing almost beyond recognition. Haseltine ducumented champion examples of various breeds during the 1920's. I was inspired by these works to attempt to capture portraits in bronze of todays champions both as a celebration and a lasting record of these magnificent beasts, just as Haseltine did before me. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
