Description

Emperor Penguin life-size bronze sculpture.

Emperor Penguins are the largest member of the penguin family. First brought to Europe by Edward Wilson, a contemporary of Scott and a member of his ill-fated expedition to reach the South Pole. My life-size bronze sculpture was commissioned by the Wilson Museum, to commemorate their association with this remarkable man. The first cast of the edition of 12 greets visitors to the Wilson, in Cheltenham, England.

Living deep in Antarctica, in the harshest conditions on earth, Emperor Penguins are amazingly hardy, magnificent birds. My sculpture shows not only their beautiful, sleek lines, but also the charm and character that makes these birds one of our most well known and loved birds.
